Statue Installation

The Williamson Lumber and Millwork team.

On Friday, December 15, 2023, the statue of St. James the Less, chosen to be a disciple after St. James the Greater, was nevertheless the first to be installed inside the Cathedral. (See photo gallery below.) William D. Williamson and his team from Williamson Lumber and Millwork designed and created custom-built pedestals in accord with Father J.J. Mech’s artistic vision. They also built specialty scaffolding to enable the safe transport of these large but delicate statues to the height at which they could be gently maneuvered onto the pedestals and secured (with bolts) to the wall.

On Saturday, December 29, 2023, the installation of all 14 statues was completed. Many thanks to the Williamson team, our project manager Mark Garascia, and our facilities manager Keith Calleja.
